Tunisia-Indonesia wants to develop its imports of Tunisian phosphate

President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed welcomed Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Carthage Palace of, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi. On this occasion, the Head of State stressed the solidity of the historical relations uniting the two countries, remarking on Tunisia’s desire to develop and further diversify them given the promising prospects in key economic sectors such as phosphate. He also examined opportunities for bilateral cooperation and fruitful exchanges in the cultural and scientific fields, according to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.

President Saïed also highlighted the imperative to update the legal framework governing relations between Tunisia and Indonesia and to develop it to create a new dynamic aimed at boosting bilateral cooperation.

He likewise reaffirmed Tunisia’s constant position in favour of the just Palestinian cause and its firm and permanent support for the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to retrieve their rights and establish an independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as capital city.

For her part, Ms. Retno Marsudi gave President Saïed a letter of invitation, addressed to him by his Indonesian counterpart, inviting him to a visit to Jakarta.

The head of Indonesian diplomacy welcomed the relations of cooperation, consultation and coordination established between Indonesia and Tunisia, emphasising her country’s determination to further develop them, especially in areas of common interest, such as trade, phosphate export, women’s empowerment and defence.
