A terrorist plan was arrested as a Takfiri relating to the terrorist organisation Daesh” was caught, the Interior Ministry announced in a press release Monday evening.
The services of the National Research Unit for Terrorist Crimes and Organised Crime Affecting the Integrity of the National Territory, in coordination with the two central directorates of the fight against terrorism and general intelligence, was able, following “an anticipatory operation, to prevent a terrorist plan and uncover a takfirist element unknown to the security services and belonging to Daesh,” the same source reads.
The Takfiri was preparing an offensive targeting a patrol in a southern governorate with an explosive device, the statement said, adding the material designed for the manufacture of that device was taken.
This individual was detained by the police in consultation with the Prosecutor’s Office at the Judicial Anti-Terrorism Division, which prevented him from carrying out his terrorist plan, the ministry said, adding that the investigation continues.
