The Investigating Judge at the Tunis Court of First Instance completed investigation into the case of the deaths of the Rabta hospital newborns. Indictments of involuntary manslaughter were issued against three defendants, Director of the Maternity and Neonatal Center – Wassila Bourguiba, the Maintenance Director and the Head of the Pharmacy Service in the Center.
Speaking to the TAP agency, Official Spokesperson for the Tunis Court of First Instance Mohsen Daly said that the investigating judge in charge of the case of newborns, who passed away on March 6 and 7, 2019 at the Rabta Hospital in Tunis, completed investigations and issued indictments for involuntary manslaughter committed for negligence, recklessness, inattention and non-compliance with the regulations under Article 217 of the Penal Code.
Daly told the news outlet, the defendants will appear before the Correctional Chamber of the Tunis Court of First Instance, adding that the case of the death of the newborns includes 16 files which will be treated independently.
