Tunisia-Kais Saied chairs key meeting on criminal reconciliation and foreign funds monitoring

President Kais Saied held an important meeting on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Carthage Palace. It was attended by Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani, Leila Jaffel, Minister of Justice, Sihem Boughdiri Namsia, Minister of the Economy, and Fathi Zouheir Nouri, Governor of the Central Bank.

Criminal reconciliation on the agenda

The meeting primarily addressed the issue of criminal reconciliation, following the revision of Decree No. 13 of the year 2022 dating from March 20, 2022, linking to this process and the use of its income.

Kais Saied insisted on the new chance offered to those truly desiring to return to the Tunisian people what belongs to them, criticizing previous steps considered unserious.

Strengthened monitoring of foreign financing

Similarly, the president urged the governor of the BCT to enforce rigorous measures via the Tunisian Financial Analysis Commission (CTAF) to monitor foreign funding received by Tunisian associations, especially from suspicious sources.

The president reiterated the significance of national sovereignty, affirming that the Tunisian people refuse any interference in their internal affairs, whether direct or covert.
