During his meeting, this Wednesday, August 11, 2021, with the Minister of Education, Fethi Sellaouti, the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed pointed to the case of the judge captured in possession of foreign and Tunisian currencies for an amount of 1.5 million dinars.
The Head of State evoked that he operates to assure that the law applies to everyone fairly, despite status, fortune or function. Kaïs Saïed emphasised that a poor person who steals food from a store would have been given the appropriate sanctions bluntly and that the same should be valid for any citizen, regardless of their position.
“She states it is a gift and justice frees her in the name of judicial independence when they are the ones who should set the example! Yet she was caught in the act! »Added Kaïs Saïed.
“The state institutions proceed to function normally despite exceptional measures. Measures which were decided in the light of a danger which was no longer imminent but real, and which were taken in accordance with the law and the constitution, opposed to what some – although educated – claim. I am not one of those who call for coups, but for the strict application of the law, to all, without distinction. “
