The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has responded to reports that some ministry officials have been disciplined following the publication of opinion pieces and their positions. The ministry stressed that these spurious accusations are meant to confuse and mislead public opinion.
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs explained in a statement issued today that the disciplinary measures brought against 9 civil servants for their failure to fulfil their duties as public officials were never based on their status both in the creative sector and in connection to their trade union functions, again to restrict their freedom of opinion and expression.
“These people appeared before the disciplinary council on the basis of inspection and inquiry reports carried out by the ministry confirming that they committed professional misconduct and acts prejudicial to the ministry, its structures and its agents”, further specifies the ministry.
