Tunisia: More than two million passengers passed through airports in first quarter

Airports operated by the Office of Civil Aviation & Airports (OACA) and by TAV Tunisie registered 2,006,634, a growth of 9.2% compared to the same period last year.

Overflight traffic (Aircraft transiting through Tunisian airspace) attained 14,737 movements, an increase of 24.7% compared to the same period of 2023. 12,420 movements were documented at Tunis International Airport -Carthage.

Passenger air traffic through Tunisian airports rose by 6.2% in the first three months of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. It stood at 1,761,894 “passenger movements”, according to statistics from the OACA, made public today.

This upward trend observed air traffic in the majority of Tunisian airports, with an increase of 5.4% for Tunis-Carthage International Airport (1,473,527 passenger movements), and 8.1% for the international airport. of Djerba-Zarzis (240,548 passenger movements), 11.7% for the international airport of Sfax-Thyna (37,709 movements), 160.3% for the international airport of Tozeur-Nafta (9,269 movements) and 33 .9% at Tabarka-Ain Draham International Airport.

For aircraft movements, the growth was 5.5% for Tunis-Carthage International Airport (12,420 movements) and 7.5% for Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (1,974 movements).

At Sfax-Thyna international airport a drop of 3.2% (816 movements) was recorded and 100% for Tozeur-Nefta international airport (100 movements). At Tabarka-Ain Draham International Airport, aircraft movement traffic declined by 22.6%.
