The Moroccan Foreign Ministry has revealed that Morocco will not partake in the Tokyo International Conference on the development of Africa and that it recalled its ambassador to Tunisia for consultations after Brahim Ghali arrived in Tunisia to participate in the Conference.
“After having recently multiplied negative positions and acts with regard to the Kingdom of Morocco and its higher interests, Tunisia’s attitude within the framework of the TICAD process affirms blatant hostility,” the ministry said.
“Faced with this hostile and detrimental attitude to the fraternal relations that the two nations have always maintained the Kingdom of Morocco has decided not to partake in the 8th TICAD Summit and to immediately recall the ambassador,” the statement said.
The same press release, on the other hand, emphasises that these decisions do not affect the strong and intact ties between the Moroccan and Tunisian people.
