Prime minister Nejla Bouden welcomed yesterday a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament in the attendance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Othman Jerandi and the Ambassador of the European Union in Tunisia Marcus Cornaro. Bouden examined the political steps designed for the forthcoming period with a view to crowning the democratic process in the country through the organization of the referendum and the early legislative elections, employing a participatory approach. According to the statement published on the official page of the Presidency of the Government, the official explained that this process started with the national consultation and meetings with national organizations to involve in an advanced stage the components of civil society.
For its part, the European delegation hailed the excellent ties between Tunisia and the EU, restating its commitment to support the country in the process of reforms sought at consolidating democracy. It also underscored the need to respect the principles of pluralism and representativeness, expressing readiness to put its expertise and experience at the service of Tunisia.
