Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, President of the Tunisian Society of Sleep Medicine Dr. Mohamed Turki reported today, Friday, March 15, 2024, that the month of Ramadan is witnessing a significant change in Tunisian habits, including the hours and sleep schedule, due to the nature of this month, which is usually marked by many evenings with family and friends.

Turki added that the shift in the timing of eating and the fact that Ramadan tables are characterized by fatty foods in addition to sweets would likewise lead to sleep disturbances. Pointing out that getting up at the time of suhoor and sleeping or taking a nap is also among the habits that may negatively impact the number of hours of sleep necessary for a person.

Dr. Turki called for the need to exercise, avoid staying up for long hours, and eat regularly. He also underlined avoiding smoking to preserve the necessary hours of sleep during the month of Ramadan.
