Tunisia-Prime Minister receives first report of the National Counter-Terrorism Commission

Prime Minister Najla Bouden Romdhane received Saturday, at Dar Dhiafa Palace in Carthage, Vice-President of the National Counter-Terrorism Commission Neila Fekih, who gave her the first report on the Commission’s work between 2016 and 2019.

The report contains an overview of the activities of the Commission as well as the recommendations issued from the National Strategy to Combat Violent Extremism and Terrorism, said a statement from the Prime Ministry.

The PM emphasised the need to combine efforts and implement developed and effective strategies to fight against terrorism and extremism.

She, in this vein, highlighted the strategy developed by the National Commission that adds to the efforts undertaken by Tunisia in its fight against the scourge of terrorism and its major role in immunising the Tunisian society against this scourge and promoting critical thinking.

Neila Fekih said the Commission is working on the revision, with the participation of all parties concerned, of the national counter-terrorism strategy, taking into account the requirements of the next stage and the evolution of this phenomenon.

Fekih also said that the Commission, in 2020, began developing the second national strategy to combat terrorism, based on the results of research conducted in this field.
