Tunisia-Rached Ghannouchi :Palestine is not a commodity to be subject of a deal, just as Al-Quds is not a business to be bought or sold

Ghannouchi remarked that what is termed the “Deal of the Century” proceeds beyond international legality in defiance of all frames and grounds the way for more divisions in the Middle East.

Peace and reconciliation will predominate in that region, only with the founding of a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital, he asserted.

“Palestine is not a commodity to be subject of a deal, just as Al-Quds is not a business to be bought or sold. It is part of a belief, a non-negotiable just cause”, said the house speaker.

He evoked that the Tunisian parliament had devoted a plenary session on February 4 in aid to Palestine and to condemn the “Deal of the Century”, he also shed the light on the demonstration arranged on the initiation of national active forces and where the Palestinian flag was raised next to the Tunisian flag.

Ghannouchi declared support for the Palestinian cause needs uniting Arab parliamentarians.

The primary step towards the union of the internal Palestinian ranks is inter-Palestinian reconciliation, Ghannouchi spoke, quoting as an example “national reconciliation in Tunisia which has made it possible to surmount difficulties and barriers,” according to him.

The Parliament Speaker requested for messages to be sent on behalf of the Arab Parliamentary Union to all international and regional parliaments to inform them of the Arab peoples’ rejection of the “Deal of the Century”.

Other messages should be conveyed to parliaments of the permanent members of the Security Council to demonstrate the outcomes of such a proposal for security and peace in the world, he stated.

Ghannouchi also advised that the Arab Parliamentary Union approve a resolution refusing the plan and affirming the right of the Palestinian people to freedom and a life in dignity.
