Tunisia-Saïed: Corruption, a common currency among some magistrates

President of the Republic Kais Saied welcomed this Monday, November 1, 2021, Leila Jaffel, Minister of Justice. During the meeting, the head of state remarked that the magistrates of integrity implement the law despite several attempts at intervention such as pressure, intimidation and bribes.

He expressed his confidence in the magistrates who will refuse these practices. Mr Saïed pointed out that corruption is still a common currency among some magistrates. Reformation can only be done with drastic measures, he noted.

In addition, the President of the Republic revealed that he rejects any attack on the independence of magistrates and the judiciary and that he assures that working conditions in the courts are acceptable.

In this context, Mr Saïed evoked that a decree is being prepared organizing the work of the Superior Council of the Judiciary. This decree does not meddle in any case in the affairs of justice because it will be prepared with the participation of the magistrates.
