President Kais Saied, on Saturday afternoon, had a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The call concentrated on Tunisian-French economic relations and bilateral cooperation in different fields.
It was again a chance for the Head of State to examine the steps taken and the next ones intended to get Tunisia out of the current situation, said the Presidency of the Republic.
President Saied additionally pointed out that “what is relayed in some media and social networks is incorrect.»
He added that many parties “opposed to democracy, freedom and justice” spread, unfortunately, lies “for big sums of money.» These seek to “harm Tunisia and the Tunisian people,” he regretted.
The Head of State has also confirmed his French counterpart that the reforms announced are planned to preserve freedom, uphold justice and stand against all those who have plundered the money of the people, reads the same source.
According to an Elysée statement on the phone call, Emmanuel Macron encouraged Kaïs Saïed to implement “a program of reforms required to encounter the economic crisis underwent by Tunisia» and emphasised that “France was ready to provide assistance.”
“The French president welcomed the announcement of the transition timetable and encouraged President Saied to conduct the transition in the most inclusive framework possible,” reads the same source.
Emmanuel Macron has also renewed his invitation to President Saied to participate in the EU/African Union summit on February 17 and 18.
