Talking on the sidelines of a press conference today, Rached Ghannouchi’s political adviser Sami Triki stated there is an try to remove the party out of the political scene by appealing to the armed forces. Triki evoked that Ennahdha has not attacked or dismissed its adversaries for the past 10 years.
“The party did not attempt to forbid demonstrations and protest movements by opponents and did not include military and security forces in political conflicts during the same period,” he revealed. Triki reflected on the general situation in the country following the implementation of the July 25 measures as well as the accusations against Ennahdha.
Remarking that the party was the victim of a smear campaign, Triki recollected that parties and organizations that “claim to be honest today” have supported Ennahdha since coming to power. Party leaders added that these parties, who accuse Ennahdha of terrorism, lobbying and foreign funding, have perpetrated crimes of tax evasion. The speaker additionally revealed that the party was the victim of a media war aimed at deflecting public opinion.
