The Regional Development Commission (CRDA) in Sousse, revealed that the cereal harvest for the current agricultural season is assessed at 21 thousand quintals against 190 thousand quintals last season.
The CRDA told the TAP that the decline in production is the result of the low rainfall documented during the seed growth phase, adding that farmers have had to convert the sown areas into pasture. Still, according to the same source, 12,000 hectares out of a total of 15,000 sown hectares were harmed due to low rainfall.
