Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, the second vice-president of the house of People’s Representatives whose activities are frozen, Tarek Ftiti confirmed that the parliament office will meet today around 11 a.m. morning remotely in response to the call from some Members. He revealed that the meeting will be held if the required quorum has been reached (9 deputies) otherwise, it will be held by an absolute majority.

Parliament will examine its agenda on this occasion and a plenary session will be organized in the forthcoming days, according to him. Commenting on the statement of the President of the Republic regarding the illegitimacy of the meeting of Deputies, he made it known that he respects the institution of the Presidency of the Republic and that the Head of State must in return respect the institutions and the Constitution. Ftiti expressed that the deputies were elected and enjoys electoral legitimacy such is the case for the President of the Republic. He specified that the power must return to the people underlining the necessity to organize the legislative elections within the time limits. The second vice-president of the house of People’s Representatives whose activities are frozen clarified that his position on the return of Parliament has not altered, specifying that the latter is morally finished but in return, its legitimacy remains still in place.

On the other hand, he called for the requirement to organize early presidential and legislative elections, condemning the fact that a committee is in charge of drafting the Constitution, specifying that this falls within the competence of Parliament.
