Tunisia-Tunisia deploys 180 troops in the Central African Republic

President Kais Saied has decided to deploy a rapid response unit to the Central African Republic under the United Nations auspices.

The military unit, composed of 180 soldiers, is responsible for intervention missions to shield civilians and ensure the deployment area, including concentrating checkpoints, directing humanitarian aid and protecting personnel and property of the United Nations.

It will further support disarmament, demobilization, reintegration and repatriation operations and will assist in monitoring respect for human rights within the framework of the mandate of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

The duration of the deployment of the military unit has been fixed at one year, beginning on Saturday, June 5, 2021, and is renewable for an additional year.
