Tunisia-Tunisia elected member of AU Peace and Security Council

Tunisia was elected member of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU) for the period 2022-2024, following the elections held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa on the occasion of the 40th session of the Union’s Executive Council.

Fifteen members were chosen as part of the complete renewal of the composition of the AU Council.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad stressed in a statement issued on Thursday: “The election of Tunisia as a member of this important African body is further proof of the respect it enjoys at the regional and international level, and clearly shows confidence in its ability to contribute effectively to the establishment of international peace and security, especially on the African continent.

Tunisia has demonstrated when it was a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, its concern to make the voice of Africa heard within the UN authority and to place African issues at the forefront of the priorities of the international community, said the Department of Foreign Affairs in the same statement.
