COVID-19 in Tunisia:

With Tunisia beginning the relax lockdown process imposed due to COVID-19 the number of recoveries neared 989 on Thursday. The infections toll stand at 1087 as the country recorded zero infections for eight consecutive days.
On her part, Director of the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases Nissaf Ben Alaya announced that “No cases of COVID-19 infection have been recorded in 15 governorates across the country for over 40 days”

Kerkennah-shipwreck disaster:
Authorities continue their effort to recover bodies of victims after a fishing boat carrying 53 irregular migrants sank Tuesday. It was on its way to Italy. Authorities have buried 32 victims.

TAP appoints new CEO:
Mouna Mtibaa has been named Chief Executive Officer of Tunis-Afrique-Presse (TAP) news agency, the Prime Ministry announced in a statement Thursday.

Jalel Brick assaulted in Paris

Tunisian activist living in Paris, Jalel Brick, was seriously beaten Thursday, June 11, 2020 by young Tunisians, Business News reported.

Alicante case:

The Customs Investigation Directorate offered on Wednesday to the Economic and Financial Judicial Pole, the outcomes of its inquiries into the purchase of land abroad and illegal operations carried out abroad, known as the “Alicante case” in Spain, in which 43 Tunisians living in Tunisia are involved.

The Customs seized 30 bank accounts and shares in the capital of several companies and 26 apartments abroad, worth 11 million dinars in addition to foreign currency money worth 12 MD, used to pay for 12,500 tons of sugar, in an illegal manner.

3 suspected terrorists arrested in Ariana

The National Guard units in Ariana have arrested three individuals on Wednesday evening on suspicion of links to terrorist groups.

Former prime minister youssef Chahed to sue I Watch

The former head of government and president of the Tahya Tounes party Youssef Chahed denied the information circulating about his involvement in “the Alicante case ”

The latter decided to file a lawsuit against I Watch.

Defence Minister Imed Hazgui denies foreign military presence in Tunisia

Defence Minister  Imed Hazgui denied any foreign forces deployed in the country.

At a hearing by the Parliamentary Committee on Security and Defence at the parliament, the Minister emphasised that Tunisia had regularly said “No” to the establishment of a military base on its soil to conduct operations.

Libya

Libya finds eight mass graves in the city of Tarhuna. UN expressed horror at the finding. On its part, Tunisia decided to present its proposals on the Libya file to the UN security council.

Confiscation commission continues to confiscate property of Ben Ali’s relatives

The Confiscation Commission decided at its periodic meeting held on Thursday to confiscate a plot of land intended for construction.

This lot, which covers an area of 650 m2, in Charguia 2, belonged to a nephew of ousted president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

Deadline for nominations for Constitutional Court extended to June 19

The bureau of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) decided to extend the deadline for filing nominations for the Constitutional Court to June 19, 2020.
