Al bina’a El Jadid Association organized today, October 17, 2021, an intellectual seminar in Sfax on “local democracy to establish a development model with a view to creating wealth”, in the attendance of actor Atef Ben Hassine and Kais Saied’s information campaign member Mr Ahmed Chafter.
Speaking to Tunisie Numerique, Mr Ridha Mekki nickname“Lenin” communicated his satisfaction with the responsiveness of the public present, indicating that the difference of opinion is advantageous provided it does not shift to violence. In addition, he emphasised the significance of grassroots democracy, revealing that it is a concrete alternative to the “pseudo-democracy” that has been in place for 10 years.
“Proximity democracy breaks with electoral commitments in favour of popular demands and this by including citizens in the design and implementation of solutions on the ground, in cooperation with civil society, Tunisian technicians and engineers who will pick the most suitable solution, ”he added.
Asked about his opinion on the positions of intellectuals opposed to Kais Saied, Mr Lenin stated that they are free to express their political opinions as long as they do not solicit an ally abroad, calling this “inadmissible”. “I am amazed at a [former] [Tunisian] president who incites [against his nation] and is proud of it! Weird! “, He responded.
