The United States granted an amount of $1.25 billion to Ukraine through the World Bank’s PEACE project, which raises and distributes funds that are used for other purposes than security and defense, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the ministry, these resources mainly serve to offset state budget expenses, due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, and will be used to pay pensions and salaries of sanitary workers and teachers, among other things.
