Republicans United States House of Representatives on Sunday revealed two articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, accusing him of “high crimes and misdemeanours” connected to his alleged failure in managing the US-Mexico border.
Republicans claim that Mayorkas willfully and systematically transgressed immigration laws, arguing that impeachment is Congress’s sole viable option in addressing Mayorkas’s actions.
In response, Democrats and the agency criticized the move, labelling it a politically motivated stunt lacking constitutional grounds for removing the Cabinet member from office.
