WTA: “Excluding and isolating has never brought change”, Ons Jabeur supports Saudi Arabia

Ons Jabeur reacted publicly and affirmed her support for Saudi Arabia, for its efforts to offer women in the region the chance to play sports, on the X platform (formerly Twitter), following a letter written by Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert on Saudi Arabia could host the 2024 WTA Finals.

Ons talked out in support of Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States, Princess Reema Bandar Al Saud, who criticized them for “turning their back” on women. She advocates for change and believes that women in regions lacking chances do not have the opportunity to excel until those opportunities are offered to them.

The world No. 6 emphasised that “change is only possible by adopting different perspectives and being inclusive. Exclusion and isolation have never brought change but have only created division. As a strong ambassador for women’s sports, I can only welcome and support Saudi Arabia’s efforts to shine a light on women’s sports and create fantastic opportunities for everyone.

We remarked that this tweet was not a direct attack on Navratilova and Evert for their controversial views, but was a simple acknowledgement that Saudi Arabia could create opportunities for women in the sport.
