This Wednesday, January 7, the lights are green for Ons Jabeur in Abu Dhabi. After her defeat in doubles yesterday the Tunisian qualified for the quarter-finals of the women’s singles of the 16th edition of the WTA 500 Mubadala World Tennis Cup 2024 tournament.
The world No. 6 picked up her first success of the tournament by beating in 2 sets 6-4 and 6-2 Emma Raducanu, after 1h18′. The defeat of the last 3 sets of the first round was almost anecdotal for Ons who was able to increase the level of his game from the first points of the 2nd round (watch video).
In the quarter-finals, the Tunisian will have the honour of encountering the WTA n°13 on Friday, the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia who beat the Polish Magda Linette (37th in the world) this Wednesday morning.
