Five individuals aboard a Japan Coast Guard aeroplane have died ollowing a collision with a Japan Airlines aircraft at Tokyo’s Haneda airport on Tuesday. The Coast Guard aeroplane was preparing to depart for Niigata to help in response to a recent 7.5-magnitude earthquake.
All 379 passengers and the crew on the Japan Airlines flight escaped without life-threatening injuries. However, the pilot of the Coast Guard flight, while successfully evacuating the aircraft, remains severely injured.
