Tunisia-Italy grants 200 million euros loan to Tunisia

A memorandum of understanding for Tunisian-Italian collaboration in the field of development for the period 2021-2023 was approved on Wednesday in Rome between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Othman Jerandi and his Italian counterpart, Luigi Di Maio.

Under this memorandum, Italy will give Tunisia a loan of 200 million euros (50 million euros in the form of a grant and 150 million euros in the form of a loan at a preferential rate) of which The goal is to fund development and economic recovery projects.

These projects concentrate on certain sectors including agriculture, employment, vocational training and the integration of young people.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding is part of the two-day official visit, which started on Wednesday, by the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, to Italy, at the invitation of his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella.
