The official Algerian Press Agency reported that Algeria started its mandate as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council on Tuesday, starting a two-year term from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2025.
The Security Council consists of 15 members, including five permanent members: China, the Russian Federation, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, along with 10 members elected by the General Assembly for a two-year term. The current elected members include:
