Thousands in New York City were submerged in darkness after a large power outage. The blackout was generated by a transformer fire within the affected region. Power was entirely restored by early the following morning. The outage affected more than 70,000 homes and businesses in Manhattan.
Andrew Cuomo New York governor declared “the fact that it happened at all is unacceptable”. He said the state’s department of public service would investigate”.
