Tunisia-CGTT: Time to invest in digital sector

“It is time to invest in the digital sector, a vital sector, and to establish an integrated digital society,” announced Tunisian General Confederation of Labour (CGTT) Secretary-General Mohamed Ali Guiza in a discourse addressed on the celebration of Labour Day.

He declared that Tunisia and the world, in general, is experiencing a fourth industrial revolution based on knowledge and invention, constituents on which we have relied since the building of the state after independence, especially through the education system.

“In Tunisia, the risk lies in the fact that we are not conscious of the shifts that are taking place in the world with the spread of coronavirus,” he contemplated.

According to Giza, the working conditions of today’s workers almost mirror those of the workers who rebelled in 1886 in Chicago, origin of this international holiday.

“Now, trade unions should improve their methods of demonstration in order to reach their ultimate goal, which is to ensure a minimum of social equality,” he added.

Addressing people who are critical of and opposed to protest movements, Giza pointed out that difference in the distribution of wealth indicates the legitimacy of these movements.

“If the trade unionist was wrong, 90% of the world’s wealth would not have been found in the hands of just 10% of its population.
