Tunisia-Coronavirus: 7 deaths in prisons

Seven elderly prisoners, suffering from chronic diseases, have died in hospitals from the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, spokesman for the prison and rehabilitation department, Sofiene Mezghich, stated.

He additionally indicated that 2,044 cases have been reported in prisons.

In addition, Mezghich announced that 82 people were infected with the coronavirus in the civil prison of Manouba and that the infected women were transported to the prison of Oudhna, which has been transformed into a Quarantine centre for detainees positive for Covid-19.

Regarding prison officers, six deaths and 50 cases were recorded.
