COVID-19 updates:

 Health authorities reported 1576 new cases and 46 deaths, bringing the death and infection tally to 12.839 and 350.487 respectively.

On the level of vaccine, the health ministry announced that More than a million people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, on the 82nd day of the national campaign, 

France’s prime minister  Jean Castex visits Tunisia 

Prime minister Hichem Mechichi welcomed on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, his French counterpart Jean Castex who paid an official visit to Tunisia on June 2 and 3, 2021, on the occasion of the 3rd High Council of Franco-Tunisian Cooperation.

On this occasion a Mr Mechichi yesterday hosted a dinner in honour of his French counterpart Jean Castex and his spouse.

Holding a press conference, the two parties signed seven agreements, Mr Mechichi pointed out that the agreements concern the Office of the Merchant Navy and Ports, the funding of a project that intends to raise Tunisian capabilities to confront natural disasters, develop the industrial capacities of the Tunisian Company for the Exploitation and Distribution of Water, and collaborate in the digital, commercial and agricultural fields.

 On his part, the French PM said that Castex said that Tunisia and France are “two brotherly countries”, which “will work to strengthen partnership as equals”.
In this context, he declared the signing of a partnership agreement in the field of research and development, and the launch of the French-Tunisian University for Africa and the Mediterranean project, which will make Tunisia a pole of excellence in higher education.
On another level,Mr Castex was welcomed by the president of the republic Kais Saied at Carthage palace. alled on France to continue to support Tunisia’s efforts to deal with this pandemic, in particular by obtaining the required vaccines.

 

It is also worth mentioning that Tunisia received a French donation consisting of three oxygen production units.The donation also consists of medical equipment worth three million euros.

President Kais Saied departs to Brussels

President of the republic Kais Saied departed to Brussels to attend the European Union-Tunisia Association Council.

The President of the State was seen off by Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi, members of the Presidential cabinet, as well as the mayor and the governor of Tunis.

Upon arriving, the head of the state met King Philippe of Belgium at the Royal Palace in Brussels. This meeting centred on the relationships of friendship and cooperation that exist between Tunisia and Belgium in many areas.

 

 Moreover, the President of the Republic oversaw the installation ceremony of the Group of Friends of Tunisia in the European Parliament in the presence of members of the group, led by Vice-President of the European Parliament and coordinator of the Tunisia-European Parliament friendship group Fabio Massimo Castaldo.
