Tunisia-Employment: 29 thousand more unemployed in fourth quarter of 2023

According to the employment and unemployment indicators, Fourth Quarter of 2023 issued today by the INS, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the number of unemployed is assessed at 667.5 thousand, compared to 638.1 thousand in the third quarter of the same year.

With this upsurge in the number of unemployed, the unemployment rate increases to 16.4% (compared to 15.8% in the third quarter of the year and 15.2 in the fourth quarter of 2022).

The unemployment rate for men rose from 13.4% in the third quarter to 13.8%, while for women the unemployment rate attained 22.2% during the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to 21.7% in the third quarter of the same year.

The unemployment rate of young people aged 15 to 24 grew during the fourth quarter of 2023, reaching 40.9% (compared to 39.1% in the third quarter of the year and 38.8% in the fourth quarter of 2022). This rate is divided into 42.1% for men and 38.2% for women during the fourth quarter of 2023.

The unemployment rate of higher education graduates drops to 23.2% in the fourth quarter of 2023 (compared to 24.6% in the third quarter of the year and 24.0% in the fourth quarter of 2022). This rate is 12.3% for men and 33.0% for women.
