In a video published April 6, 2022 on his Facebook page, Afek Tounes leader Fadhel Abdelkefi, assessed that Tunisia is heading towards bankruptcy if we do not pull ourselves together. “The bankruptcy of Lebanon indicates that the government becomes incapable to import wheat and pay the wages of public officials… The bankruptcy is likewise that of the local currency which loses 90% of its value. Result: Severe consequences that will weigh extremely heavily on the citizen,” Abdelkefi wrote.
Abdelkefi, further specified that in Tunisia, the State disburses more than it produces wealth, which blasts the public debt. In 2010 the country’s debt amounted to 25 billion dinars and today it surpasses 130 billion dinars (…) We are in the same scenario as Lebanon, the difference is that we still have a chance of redressing the situation. Tunisia can succeed…” he wrote.
