Tunisia – First mission and challenge for Najla Bouden: Solve the waste problem in Sfax

President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, spoke on Friday with prime minister Najla Bouden, to present her with her first life-size test. A rather delicate task and a challenge for her in order to assure her mastery and impose the respect of her team.

Saïed has, in fact, asked the head of government to put an end to the abuses endured by the residents of Sfax for nearly a month with the trash that is piling up on all street corners and running water and electricity cut.

This first test will be a chance for Najla Bouden to implement the first priority that she declared at the time of her inauguration, particularly to regain the confidence of Tunisians in the state and its institutions. However, she is warned that it will not be an easy task or a walk in the park, because Sfaxiens have not simply lost all confidence in the central power, which has dropped them in the hands of traffickers of all sorts and regional officials that are more incompetent than each other, but they have, in addition, formed a grudge against those who betrayed and mistreated them.

It will be, moreover, a very sensitive test for Najla Bouden, insofar as Kaïs Saïed warned her that what is occurring in Sfax is by no means a combination of circumstances, but, indeed, a plot outlined against the power and the people.

A first test for the government which will have to put it face to face with a handful of young people, mobilized, according to Saïed, by some parties, and who will make it their job to persist in rejecting the deposit of garbage near their homes.
