Tunisia-Heartfelt cry of patients after closure of dialysis center in Médenine

Patients suffering from kidney failure launched an appeal this Tuesday to the attention of the Ministry of Health, the regional health directorate and the Medenine University Hospital, urging them to intervene urgently to put the system back into service. the dialysis centre.

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, they clarified that the dialysis centre was shut down more than a month ago because of the detection of bacteria in the water treatment room.

Asma Thabet, director of the Association of Patients Suffering from Renal Failure in Medenine, stated it had been decided to distribute the patients to other dialysis centres.

She said it has become difficult for patients, particularly those with disabilities, to bear the burden of travel, despite the efforts made by the authorities involved.

According to her, the provisional solution of distributing patients to other blood transfusion centres was not supposed to last more than two weeks, but this situation has now lasted for more than a month.

For her part, Ahlam Kenis, director of the Medenine University Hospital, confirmed that the dialysis centre would be reopened as soon as the absence of bacteria in the water treatment room was confirmed.
