Tunisia-Khalifa Guesmi case: Mosaïque FM sends a message to the public opinion

Mosaïque FM Editorial Team   published a notice to public opinion this Saturday, March 19, 2022, revealing its astonishment at the summons of its correspondent in Kairouan, reporter Khalifa Guesmi, journalist Amal Mannai and the editor in Chief Houcine Dabbabi, to question them as suspects by the National Unit for Research on Terrorism Crimes at the Aouina National Guard for publication of information on the detention of a terrorist cell, and this to learn the source of some information.

Mosaïque FM said that tGuesmi was detained for 5 days for the benefit of the investigation. It also voiced its total support and solidarity with all colleagues and that it will provide them with the required legal and moral support. Arguing that it is “a dangerous precedent” and is part of a “clear targeting of Mosaïque FM and its journalists and a blast to its editorial line”, particularly since the same information circulated on numerous sites and other media.

Mosaique FM likewise associated its voice with the National Union of Tunisian Journalists-SNJT and civil society organizations, and strongly denounced the non-adoption of decree 115 and the guarantees it presents journalists to protect their sources and to resort to the anti-terrorism law and the detention of the journalist, Khalifa Guesmi as if he represented a threat to public security.
