Tunisia- Mabrouk Korchid to Kais Saied: Constitutional reforms are needed

In an open letter directed to the President of the Republic Kais Saied on Thursday, November 26, independent MP Mabrouk Krochid called on the Head of State to respond to the sit-ins and anarchic demonstrations which imperil the unity of the state.

Korchid criticised the way in which the government had handled the Al Kamour crisis, as well as the words of House speaker Rached Ghannouchi who hinted that each region must first be self-sufficient before allowing to the State to profit from its resources.

Underscoring the threat to the rule of law, MP recalled the disgraceful situation in which Tunisian justice finds itself, between accusations of corruption, strikes and the failure of the executive power to manage the crisis.

With this in mind, he called on the President OF the Republic to respond and to take the necessary decisions in order to “the Correct errors of a lame system that the Troika had set in place via a hybrid and distorted constitution”.
