Tunisia-new American ambassador presents himself in Tunisian dialect

The new U.S. ambassador to Tunisia, Joey Hood, published a video this Friday, February 3, 2023, on the official embassy page, in which he presented himself, speaking the Tunisian dialect.

The diplomat stated he was born in a small village in New Hampshire, that his father operated in a post office and that his mother was a school bus driver.

Joey Hood is married and the father of two children. He worked and lived in different capitals and Arab cities, such as Sanaa, Riyadh, Dammam, Doha, Kuwait and Baghdad.

Hood stated he was lucky to visit Tunisia last year and that he was moved by the hospitality of Tunisians, voicing his joy at returning to the country of Ibn Khaldoun, Aziza Othmana and Abou’l Kacem Chebbi.

On the other hand, the new ambassador indicated that he had read the economic challenges through which Tunisia passes.
“I will go, with my team, to deepen economic collaboration for the creation of new jobs and I will make sure to strengthen the friendship that has linked the two nations, for two centuries (…) in addition to the support of tourism And education (…) I can’t wait to start work in Tunisia “.
