The member of the Scientific Committee for the fight against coronavirus, Mahjoub Ouni revealed that “Florana” is not a new variant, nor a new virus, but rather it is a mix between the coronavirus and the flu which strikes the respiratory system.
In a statement to the radio, he pointed out that this dual infection causes the identical usual symptoms of Covid such as breathing difficulties and fever and can furthermore cause severe forms in immunocompromised people.
Ouni said it is challenging to determine which virus the patient was infected with without consulting the doctor and sequencing the virus, particularly with winter illnesses like colds and throat inflammation alongside the spread of coronavirus and flu virus.
