Tunis Survey, a specialist in online surveys and digital studies, has just uncovered the results of its popularity barometer of the 3 presidents.
This barometer is based on a self-administered online survey that took place from June 14 to 22, 2021. Its goal is to evaluate the satisfaction of Tunisian Internet users with the performance of the 3 presidents: Kaïs Saïed, Rached Ghannouchi and Hichem Mechichi.
It should be remembered that during the 12th wave of the barometer, respondents’ satisfaction with each of the three presidents was as follows.
- Rached Ghannouchi 89% of respondents were dissatisfied with his performance
- Kais Saied 54 % of respondents were dissatisfied with his performance.
- Hichem Mechichi more than 81 % of respondents were dissatisfied with his performance.
For this tenth wave, the sample size after the screening is 1810 respondents.
Ghannouchi record holder of unpopularity:
As unpopular as ever, House speaker Rached Ghannochi has failed to raise the bar. Worse, during this thirteenth wave, he even succeeded to blast his own wave 12 records. His unpopularity is now at its lowest point.
For this 13th wave, Rached Ghannouchi loses 1 point of popularity as opposed to the twelfth wave: 90% of respondents are dissatisfied with his performance.
Kaïes Saïed: Comparatively the most popular For this thirteenth wave
The president of the republic is comparatively the most popular president. Remember that the popularity curve of Kaïes Saïed rose by three points during waves 9, 10 and 11 to fall at wave 12 by 4 points.
For this 13th wave, the popularity of the President of the Republic has lost another 5 points but remains nevertheless the best of the 2 other presidents. Indeed, 41% of respondents are satisfied with his performance compared to 46% during wave 12.
The popularity of Hichem Mechichi approaches Rached Ghannouchi
The popularity of the prime minister drops again by 2 points compared to the 12th wave.
In 2 consecutive waves, Hichem Mechichi has gained 5 fewer popularity points. 83% of respondents are still dissatisfied with the performance of the PM.
Recall that the popularity of Hichem Mechichi has not changed since he entered the barometer. In 7 waves Hichem Mechichi went from 60% satisfied to 17%. That is a loss of 43 popularity points since September 2020.
Lack of confidence and program are the principal reasons for dissatisfaction:
- For Rached Ghannouchi: 81% of dissatisfied people are dissatisfied because they do not trust him. This trend is the same since the third wave.
For Kaïs Saïed: 62% of dissatisfied people are dissatisfied because he has no program (navigate blindly).
For Hichem Mechichi: 56% of respondents are dissatisfied because they do not trust him. They are additionally 53% dissatisfied, believing that he does not possess a program. 50% of those who are dissatisfied also think he is poorly handling the Coronavirus crisis.
