Tunisia-President Kais Saied said he knows the identity of the person plotting against the state and aims at the Prime Ministry

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied met, this Wednesday, September 23, the Head of Government, Hichem Mechichi.

During the meeting, the head of the state  noted that Some people, potential nominees for positions in the state, are being targeted by court cases

The president stated it is proper to pause for the court to rule on these cases before employing the people concerned in the management of public affairs.

He added that the courts pass judgment on behalf of the people. And if the people, as holders of sovereignty, have revolted against a whole system and have shed its symbols, then there is no longer any issue of their returning to the forefront when they are involved in judicial matters, the head of state stressed.

Kais Saied recollected, in this connection, that the people whose names are circulating for high positions have extracted money and real estate belonging to the state. They no longer have a place in the state and must be held accountable before a fair justice.

The President of the Republic says that he rejects to appoint anyone who is the subject of a legal claim to positions of responsibility.

He called, in this sense, the Prime Minister to consult the archives of the National Commission for the Investigation of Cases of Corruption and Embezzlement chaired by late Abdelfattah Omar. He added “it is true that judgments have not been rendered against them because of the shenanigans they have engaged in recent years, and today these people want to return to the state apparatus under the pretext of their expertise. But the Tunisian people who drove them from power, will not accept their return.

Saied said he knows the identity of the person plotting against the state and aims at the Prime Ministry.

He denounced the intervention of certain influential parties in the appointment of governors and the increase of their allowances, saying that measures will be taken against these unacceptable actions.

There had been reports in the media of the Prime Minister’s intention to appoint Taoufik Baccar and Mongi Safra, two former regime officials, as advisers to the government cabinet.
