President Saïed addressed the Nation this evening.
He pointed out that at the very moment when children and women are being slaughtered in Gaza, when whole neighbourhoods and towns are being razed over the heads of their residents, when fuel is being cut off from hospitals, and even, the slightest drop of water, at this moment, we witness that the fight is migrating from a fight for liberation to a political fight, around criminalization.
He confirmed that anyone who normalizes with the enemy is a traitor, guilty of high treason and that the term normalization does not even exist for him. Because it is the reflection of a defeatist spirit and not that of a fighter.
He assured that his address this evening is not to enter into the controversy of terms, but that he finds himself obliged to interfere to recall that the constitution of July 25 includes articles which ensure that Tunisia is the guarantor of rights of oppressed peoples, to self-determination, in accordance with international codes. And first of all, the right of the Palestinian people to free their land and build their Nation there with Al Quds as its capital.
He pointed out the difference between this constitution and that of 2014 which was satisfied to declare support for the causes of the people, and first of all, that of the Palestinian people, without any allusion to the right of the Palestinians to build their Nation on their earth liberated. And everyone knows the reasons for this formula chosen in 2014, when one of the Zionists increased the number of visits to the parliament, since 2011, as well as secret meetings with deputies in foreign capitals.
He clarified that his position on this law has been, from the start, clear, concerning the qualification of the normalization as high treason, and proposed basing it on article 60 of the penal code, which states that “ is considered a traitor, anyone who betrays the Palestinian people, with details of all forms of betrayal, and the penalties incurred in each specific case. Specifying that this is high treason.
Saïed reiterated that we are in a battle of liberation, not a war of criminalization. He confirmed that he does not need any other witnesses than God and the Tunisian people.
He assured that Tunisia does not have transcontinental missiles, but we have transcontinental positions, and that he refuses any outbidding, any pressure and any racketeering, from anyone inside or abroad.
He clarified that the parliament has its functions, in accordance with the constitution, just as the President of the Republic has his.
He added that sovereignty belongs to the Tunisian people. And the people demanded the liberation of all the occupied territory.
He assured that this is his position and that we are waging this battle of liberation with all the free men of the world, and liberation is not obtained with texts or wishes.
