Tunisia- STEG CEO will no longer benefit from free electricity

Slim Bouzidi, Secretary General of the Electricity and Gas Union reported that the profit of free electricity which was given to members of the board of directors of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company had been cancelled.

He explained that the CEO would not benefit from free electricity, noting that this decision was taken two months ago.

Bouzidi declared on a radio that workers benefit from free electricity, provided that the share does not surpass 50 dinars per month, which is included in the criteria for calculating the employee’s salary.

He said the number of employees benefiting from free electricity is 9,000 employees out of the company’s total 14,000 employees.

He explained that it is entitled to benefit from this share by only one of the employees’ spouses, about the prevalence of marriage among the company’s employees.
