A terrorist plan was foiled in Sfax by the National Guard units, according to a statement issued this Wednesday, December 7, 2022, by the General Directorate of the National Guard.
This operation was aimed at a security unit and a “place of worship” in Sfax and was arranged by a Takfitist element, according to the same press release.
It was within the framework of an “anticipatory operation” overseen by the public prosecutor at the judicial pole to combat terrorism, that the plan could be thwarted.
It should be cited that the terrorist element had formerly been incarcerated for its involvement in a legal case of a terrorist nature, according to the press release. The suspect was moved to the public prosecutor at the anti-terrorist judicial pole and an investigation was opened for this purpose and a deposit warrant was issued against him.
