Information and Programme Officer at the local health directorate of Tozeur Foued Brani called the epidemiological situation in the region “worrisome” after recording 59 new infections after 156 samples were taken, bringing the infection tally to 318 cases.
Speaking to the TAP, Barrani pointed out that the infection toll since the start of the pandemic has climbed to 7,507, including 7,075 recoveries and 110 deaths, emphasising that it is the duty of the infected to be responsible and this by avoiding contact with the family circle to decrease the viral spread.
He also considered that the absence of preventive measures, including wearing masks, social distancing and the organization of rallies have been observed.
It should be remarked that 26 infected are currently treated in hospitals, including 3 hospitalized in the ICU unit, 11 in the COVID unit of Tozeur Regional Hospital, 9 in the Local in Dégache and 3 at the Regional Hospital of Nefta.
In a related context, Barrani announced that as of Sunday 1,478 people were vaccinated, including 83 who received the second dose of the vaccination.
