Tunisia – What does the roadmap proposed by Saïed to Ghannouchi contain?

The presidents of the republic Kais Saied and House speaker Rached Ghannouchi had a meeting this Thursday at Carthage palace, on the sidelines of the celebrations of the creation of the national army. The meeting, the first for more than six months of rupture would have been at the initiative of the former Ennahdha member Lotfi Zitoun and offered the chance for the two men to examine the potential solutions for a way out of the current crisis.

Saïed would have, according to close sources, given to Ghannouchi, a new roadmap, to surmount this situation of blockage between the three presidencies. This roadmap incorporates different successive measures:

Kaïs Saïed agrees to approve the cabinet reshuffle on the condition of replacing the four ministers suspected of corruption.

The new government will place the fight against the pandemic on top of its priorities.

Hichem Mechichi must step down or removed from his post within a six-month delay.

Ennahdha, in its capacity as the winning party in the elections, will recommend the person of its choice to constitute a new government.

Ennahdha will take accountability for any failure or success of “its ” government.

Saïed suggests an amendment to the electoral law and the political system of the country, before the date of the succeeding electoral deadlines of 2024.

Hold a national dialogue, on the condition that people and parties speculated of embezzlement and corruption, are excluded.

On Ennahdha’s side, the response to this roadmap was mixed, the officials of this party having contented themselves with qualifying the interview as positive, although Ghannouchi promised Kaïs Saïed that he will refer these proposals. to the party and communicate his response, very soon.

It appears that for a majority among the Islamists, there is nothing to hope from Kaïs Saïed, and they could not build anything on the proposals that he is making today, and that he risks renouncing, beginning tomorrow. !
