Tunisiai-Representatives of “democratic” and “national reform” blocs withdraw from HPR Bureau meeting

According to the TAP, Representatives of the “democratic” and “national reform” blocs retreated from the meeting of the Bureau of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) held on Thursday afternoon, in a demonstration against the tenacity of the representatives of “Ennahdha” and “Qalb Tounes” to vote the proposal to hold a plenary to withdraw confidence in the Fakhfakh government.

President of “Qalb Tounes” bloc and member of parliament’s bureau, Osema Khelifi, declared that the meeting of the HPR bureau was suspended, after a discussion on the presentation of the motion of no-confidence against Elyes Fakhfakh in the plenary for a vote, “without taking any particular decision in this direction”.

The representatives of the democratic bloc, Nabil Haji and Zouheir Maghzaoui, agreed to consider the proposed vote to present the said motion in plenary as illegal and unjustified, especially since the PM had resigned from his post.

For her part, Representative of the “national reform” bloc, Nesrine Laamari, explained her withdrawal from the meeting of the parliament’s bureau by the fact that Ennahdha’s representatives proceeded to break the law.

“These violations and the attempts to force their way into the parliament’s bureau are one of the main causes that encouraged 73 elected officials to sign the motion of withdrawal of confidence in theHPR Speaker,” she said.

The meeting of the parliament’s bureau discussed the two motions tabled on Wednesday and Thursday with the parliament’s bureau concerning the withdrawal of confidence from resigning PM Elyes Fakhfakh and HPR Speaker Rached Ghannouchi, the news outlet added.
