The number of newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 surged by 253,145 in the past 24 hours, John Hopkins University announced on Thursday.
Since the start of the pandemic, 21,299,340 people were infected by the coronavirus. In the same period, the death toll grew by a record of 3,865 to stand at 361,123.
