Consuming fires have ravaged 100 hectares of a hazelnut forest in the Ghardaia district of Beni Khiar in Nabeul, according to Regional Director of Civil Protection Lotfi Ben Alaya.
90 civil protection officers, buttressed by 16 loaded trucks of firemen, forest agents and the national army, have been struggling fiercely for more than 6 hours to properly contain the fire
Ben Alaya said arson might be behind the incident due to the eruption of many fires at the same time.
